CHRISTMAS– The votes are in for the Christmas Party preference, thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the short survey. The votes were unveiled in typical procurement style manner, closed until 5pm, in secret and then opened by a formal committee in a secure room. It’s apparently an audit requirement for this kind of thing. Anyway, it appears, from the detailed statistical analysis undertaken, that the most popular event is the ‘unlimited and unhinged’ probably at Blundells Hill. That is you pay approx £55 for unlimited booze and a 3 course meal. Which in reality is less than you would pay in total if you were to go to the event at Knowsley Safari Park, for example . Plus I’ve seen the drinking ability of some of you and know you will get your value for money…..
I have contacted them re their availability and will update you when I get the dates that are available. Don’t worry if you didn’t complete the survey you are still very much invited! Watch this space………….
QUIZ TIME– Please reserve the date in your diary- Thursday 10th October 2019 18.00 – 21:30, in Liverpool. Each year HFMA host a quiz event and it is open to everyone not just Accountants etc. Rumour has it that Clinical Coding have an excellent quiz team that will challenge the best, the Finance Directorate needs you this year- please! Well actually we also just need anyone across the Finance Directorate who fancies an evening out!
Don’t worry the questions aren’t about budgets, VAT, EBITDA and accounting equations. It’s actually good, with food too. Last year, it has to be said, I singled handedly kept the Finance team in the competition right to the very end 😉

SHIVERPOOL– there is an excellent tour called “Shiverpool,” which is a tour that tells the old tales and ghost stories about Liverpool. Jess Crolla, has negotiated a deal and it is likely to be £13-16 each (depending upon numbers) and on Friday 18th October, 7pm. It will be a private tour for us all and seems a good idea and just in time for Halloween. Maybe with a couple of drinks afterwards…..

SCOTT CRAWFORD’S GIG…..
Scott, who works in the Procurement Team, is playing a gig on Saturday 10th August at 408 Clock Face Road (that is apparently the name for Clock Face Hotel, it’s not actually in a house :-))
Some of the Procurement Team will be going along to support him and many of us have seen him before and he is excellent with a great variety of songs. Please feel free to come along and join us!
ANYTHING ELSE……
The idea of this page is to help share events, ideas and just generally try to create a social element to work and is for absolutely everyone across the Finance Directorate.
If you are in a band, a show, have some interesting news or just have an idea for a social event then please let me know and I will detail it on here and share it. It appears most of the above involve booze etc but if you want to start a sports team or something similar then let me know and I am happy to help coordinate it. There are so many of us, we must have enough of us for a netball team, a five a side football team, a badminton team and even a chess team, if that’s your forte!!
The main message is please don’t be shy, please get involved and the aim is just to try to get to know everyone who you work with. Plus this is now an appraisal objective of mine and if it doesn’t succeed then…….. 🙂
