January…..

I can’t put any frills on the title. It’s cold, it’s wet and we are all skint. It is actually the 438th of January today.

Good news-it’s February soon, you have nearly survived.

Christmas Party

Who remembers this? Yes, not all 39 of you- for a variety of reasons. It was a good night and ever so well behaved, apart from the every so slightly grumpy quiz master/DJ and the bar weirdly shutting at 12. That bar closure could have turned nasty if we weren’t such a lovely bunch. That said, some of you had consumed enough anyway.

Anyway, the fact you were home for before 1am, in most cases, meant that you probably got a few brownie points as you advised your other half you were home early as you were missing them.

Here are some pictures of some of those of you that were there. If you were there and not on the pictures I am sorry, you were probably at the bar. Or doing “the worm” in the reception area.

Not sure who it was, but the compare wants his Christmas jacket back. He was last seen running after someone on the 18th hole……

What is next?

Unfortunately Katie Riley is leaving us. But that means one thing….a night out is overdue! Even if you don’t know Katie I know you be made to feel welcome and just go along.

Here is an update from Katie related to her leaving do on Saturday 8th Feb!! If you want any details just drop her an email.

“So, we couldn’t get a good time for Ghetto Golf so instead I have booked us in for Junkyard Golf which is similar but is based in Liverpool One https://www.junkyardgolfclub.co.uk/liverpool/

Anyone who’d like to meet for a drink before can meet in Aether (it’s a bit like the Alchemist but smaller), which is the bar on Chavasse Park, next to the Club House and used to be Tavern on the Green. I’ll be there from around 3pm, and then at 4pm we’ll go to Junkyard Golf, which is just downstairs.

We’re booked to play at around 4:30 but we have to be there by 4 so that they can check us in and get us set up, so if you just want to meet us there please be there for 4pm. In case you’re not sure where you’re going its where the old mini golf used to be; part way up the stairs at the back on the way up to the cinema. If you go to the Odeon its down the stairs on the side by Nandos.

After golf we can wander up to Baltic Market (about a 10min walk) for some food and drinks, we’ll probably get there around 6ish depending upon our golf skills.

The golf costs £9.50 and I’ve booked it for the following people so far (there are a few tickets still available online for anyone who had provisionally said maybe and wants to come):

  • Siobhan
  • Liz
  • Sarah Robinson
  • Karen Wareing
  • Michelle Booth
  • Mubin
  • Rhianne
  • Karen Arnold
  • Laura
  • Graham
  • Graham’s mate
  • Sarah Clark
  • Sue
  • Mark
  • Cat
  • Nicola Wood
  • Sarah Cooper
  • Mike
  • Joe

I’m happy to take cash or bank transfers for the golf, whichever is easiest for yourselves, and if you could pay me before 8th Feb that would be great”

Next event…..

I won’t lie, I’ve not really planned anything in detail but there have been loads of great ideas suggested to me. If you have mentioned an event to me please let me know and we will have chat about planning it.

Some ideas:

The races (horses or dogs)

Escape rooms

Trip to Dublin

Climbing Snowdon/camping

Wicker basket making ( I’ve made this one up)

Trust Awards

1st of May this year at the M&S Arena in Liverpool. Tickets are notoriously hard to get but the more the merrier! An email will be sent out about this soon.

Message to everyone

These events are open to everyone and I hope that if you reading this you will come on one of the events in the next few months. My appraisal is due soon and I’ve achieved many of the things I needed to do, though I still need to get some departments within Finance to join us on a department night out. So in summary, yes this is outright emotional blackmail, but I have a mortgage to pay and if you could please make an effort to come along it will mean I wont get the boot. Cheers!
